On November 22, the final of the 2nd China-Africa Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The theme of the competition is “Technological Innovation Helps Sustainable Development of China-Africa Partnership”. The competition focuses on three major fields: digital economy and innovative services, circular economy and industrial manufacturing, and healthcare and modern agriculture. A total of 144 projects are collected for the competition. After screening and review, 69 projects enter the preliminary competition. The team members are mainly from China and 21 African countries.
The preliminary competitions in the three fields had been held in mid to late October at Tongji University, China University of Petroleum, and Wuhan University of Science and Technology respectively. After the preliminary competitions, 5 outstanding projects were selected from each of the three fields to enter the final. After intense competition among 15 projects , the “Field Watcher: A New Green Insect-Resistant New Choice” project wins the First Prize, two projects, “Sustainable New Energy Power Supply System for Africa” and “Industrialization of Key Technologies and Equipment for Large Scale Conversion of Agricultural Waste into Coal Materials and Fertilizers”, win the Second Prizes, and three projects, including “Black Beauty: Best Hair-care Products for Black Peoples with Chinese Herbal Medicine”, “Development, Utilization and Commercialization of Whole House Off-grid Solar PVT Heat Pump System in Africa”, and “AFRICPAY: Technological Innovative Fintech Cross-border”, win the Third Prizes. In addition, four projects, including “Application of Oropharyngeal Probiotics in Adjuvant Treatment and Prevention of Respiratory Infection”, win the Excellence Awards, and five projects, including “SQUARES-Multi Currency E-commerce Platform”, win the Best Creativity Awards.

The competition is co-hosted by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province and organized by the China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center (CAICC). It aims to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and African youth, broaden space for cooperation in innovation and business startups, and stimulate enthusiasm among Chinese and African youth for innovation and entrepreneurship.
